Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School won the state Class A baseball championship this afternoon, defeating Pittsford Sutherland, 8-2, at NYSEG Stadium.
The Spartans had to wait a day for the title; after defeating Saugerties, 7-1, in the semifinals Saturday afternoon, their final game was pushed back by rain until today.
In the title game, the Paul DeLuca-coached Spartans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and were never headed.
