A Gloversville man has been sentenced to seven years in state prison for sexually abusing two children last year.

Scott D. Van Etten, 34, of Second Avenue, pleaded guilty in March to second-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree sexual abuse, both violent felonies, according to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Van Etten admitted to engaging in oral sexual conduct with a child less than 15 years old between May and June 2014, as well as having sexual contact with a child less than 11 years old in July 2014.

He was arrested August 27, 2014, by the Gloversville Police Department.

He was sentenced June 15 in Fulton County Court to two concurrent seven-year sentences, as well as 10 years post-release supervision. Orders of protection were also issued.

In a statement, Fulton County District Attorney Louise K. Sira said, “It is important for the public to know that crimes against our children, if proven, will result in lengthy prison terms.”
